Beside the machine, and back in the bay

Civil and earthmoving repairs are done on site when the machine should stay on the job. Floating an excavator to Tinana because a repair might be finished in the paddock is the slower choice. The workshop at 2/24 Iindah Road West is behind that visit. It is not a separate company you call when the field repair turns out to need a bench. If the job needs the bay, the machine or the component comes in. If it can be finished beside the machine, it stays there.

The work is hydraulics, large component overhauls, and the high-torque work this equipment asks for. Torquing goes to 3100 ft-lb, which is 4200 Nm. That figure is for the large fasteners on civil and earthmoving machines. It is stated on this page because it is a civil fact, not a claim about every job in the building. Hydraulics are part of the same work: a leak, a pump, or a cylinder, on site or in the bay depending on what has failed.

Tell us the machine and the attachment that is on it. Tell us whether it can be floated or the work has to stay on site. Tell us the symptom if it is hydraulic, and name any component you already know has failed. A slow function and a burst line are different jobs. We would rather know which one before the ute leaves Tinana.

This is not a heavy-truck page and it is not a 4×4 page. A truck that has stopped on the highway is a breakdown under heavy vehicles, and the number is (07) 4123 5246. A machine that is sitting on a job, still yours to move or not, is this page. Planned work can go through the quote page. Say “on site” or “in the workshop” so the reply matches the machine you actually have.

Torque

Fasteners to 3100 ft-lb

Torquing on civil and earthmoving equipment goes to 3100 ft-lb, which is 4200 Nm. That is the figure for the large fasteners on this kind of machine. It is not a general claim about every nut in the Tinana workshop, and it is not printed on the other service pages for that reason. If the job is a large fastener on plant, this is the number that matters.

The capability sits with the workshop, and it is one of the reasons a field job sometimes comes back to the bay. A fastener that can be finished properly beside the machine stays on site. A fastener that needs the equipment the paddock does not have comes to 2/24 Iindah Road West. We are not going to pretend a torque figure is the same thing as a completed repair. The repair is the fastener done to the figure, on the machine it belongs to.

When you book, you do not need to arrive with the torque spec in your hand if you do not have it. You do need to say what the machine is and what the fastener is part of. A track, a hitch, a large component: those are different jobs even when the number at the top of this section is the same. Large component overhauls, which are the next part of this work, are usually bench jobs. The torque is part of putting them back.

This figure is the one we will talk to. We will not invent a higher number to sound larger, and we will not apply this number to a truck fastener or a 4×4 fastener that was never the point of it. If your machine’s fastener is inside 3100 ft-lb, say what the machine is and whether the work is on site or in the bay. The quote page will take that. If the machine is stopped and the job cannot wait, ring (07) 4123 5246.

Hydraulics

Hydraulics on working plant

Hydraulic repairs are part of the civil work. They happen on site or in the bay, depending on whether the problem is a leak, a pump, or a cylinder, and on whether the machine can leave the job. A slow function and a burst line are not the same visit. Describe what the machine is doing. “Hydraulics are down” is a start. Which function, and whether it failed suddenly or faded, is the booking.

On site is the right place when the machine should stay where it is working and the repair can be finished there. The Tinana workshop is the right place when the component needs the bench, or when the torque and the overhaul that go with a large hydraulic component cannot be done in the paddock. Both are this page. You do not book the field visit with one company and the bench work with another.

Large component overhauls often start as a hydraulic fault found beside the machine. The field visit finds the failed component. The overhaul is the bench work, with the equipment the site does not have. If you already know the component, name it. If you do not, name the symptom. We would rather find it than have you guess a part number that sends the wrong work to Tinana.

The machine and the attachment matter. An excavator with one attachment and the same excavator with another are not automatically the same hydraulic job. Say what is on it. Say whether it can be floated. The address, if it is coming in, is 2/24 Iindah Road West, Tinana QLD 4650. If it is staying on site, the quote page has a place to say so. If it has failed and the job is stopped today, ring (07) 4123 5246.

Civil and earthmoving equipment
Overhauls

Large components, on the bench

Large component overhauls usually come back to the workshop. The field visit finds the failed component. The overhaul itself is bench work, with the equipment the site does not have. That split is the shape of a lot of civil jobs. We can be beside the machine to see what failed, and the component still has to come to Tinana to be overhauled properly.

The workshop at 2/24 Iindah Road West is set up for that bench work, including the high torque these components ask for, up to 3100 ft-lb or 4200 Nm. Hydraulics and large fasteners meet in the same job more often than they stay apart. An overhaul that ignores the hydraulic side, or a hydraulic repair that ignores the fastener that holds the component, is an unfinished machine. Both are done here.

Bring the component, or bring the machine, depending on what can be removed on site. If it can be removed in the paddock, the component is the thing that travels. If it cannot, the machine comes in or the overhaul waits until it can be split safely. Say which of those you are looking at when you book. A quote is enough when the job can wait. A machine that has stopped the job today is a phone call.

This is not a guess at a customer story. We will not name a machine we have not been asked to name. The work is the overhaul: the failed component identified, the bench work done, the torque done, the hydraulics considered. If that is the job in front of you, this is the page. The number is (07) 4123 5246. The quote page will take the machine, the component if you know it, and whether the work starts on site or in the bay.

Civil and earthmoving questions

Can you work on the machine where it sits?

Yes. The repair is done on site when the machine should stay on the job. The Tinana workshop is there when the job needs the bay.

How much torque can you do?

Torquing on this equipment goes to 3100 ft-lb, which is 4200 Nm.

Do you repair hydraulics and large components?

Yes. Hydraulics are part of the civil work. Large component overhauls are finished on the bench.
