Breakdown service beside a truck
Heavy vehicles

The bay, and the call when it stops

This page is for trucks that have to keep earning. Repairs and diagnostics are done on the hoist at the Tinana workshop. The aim is the truck back at work, with the fault actually found, not a patch that brings it back next week for the same complaint. The equipment is looked after as if it were ours. That is the standard of the bay, not a slogan beside it.

When the truck has already failed away from the workshop, the breakdown is answered by the same people. It is not handed to another company for the roadside part and then towed here for the real repair. If the truck can be driven, bring it to 2/24 Iindah Road West. If it cannot, ring (07) 4123 5246 and say where it is sitting, what it was doing when it failed, and whether it can be moved.

Heavy vehicle work is workshop repairs, breakdowns, and the diagnostic work that belongs with a truck. Electrical faults and mechanical faults are both in that work. A warning lamp and a mechanical noise can be the same job, or they can be two jobs. We do not decide that from the phone description alone if the truck is in front of us. The next section is how that fault finding is done.

Hyundai trucks are part of this page. Amet Diesel is the local service and repair agent, so Hyundai servicing and repair is booked into this bay. The workshop is also an approved inspection station, so a truck that is already in can be inspected before it leaves. If the truck is one of a fleet and it is due rather than failed, the commercial fleets page is the booking. If it has a fault, it is this page.

Fault finding

Electrical and mechanical faults, traced

A complex fault is the job, not an extra on the end of a service. Wiring and the mechanical side are both checked before a part is fitted to see if the complaint goes away. That is how a truck avoids a second visit for the same problem. Fitting a part to test a theory is how the truck comes back, and how the bill grows without the fault moving.

Electrical faults on a heavy vehicle are not a side trade that we send out. Charging, lighting, and control faults that only show once the truck is under load are traced here. Mechanical faults are traced in the same bay, on the same truck, by the same workshop. The point of keeping both in one place is that a symptom often crosses the line. A truck that will not pull can be fuel, air, or an electrical command. Guessing which one from the driver’s description is not the repair.

The workshop at Tinana is set up for that work. The truck comes onto the hoist, or we come to the truck if it is a breakdown and it cannot be moved. Either way the order is the same. Find the fault. Then repair it. Then send it back to work. A breakdown that only gets the truck moving, with the cause left for another day, is an unfinished job.

When you ring, the useful details are where the truck is, what it was doing when the fault showed, any warning lamps, and whether it can be driven to 2/24 Iindah Road West. You do not need the name of the failed part. That is what the diagnosis is for. If the truck is a Hyundai, say so. Servicing and repair for those trucks is done here as the local agent, and an inspection can be done in the same visit if it is due.

Diagnostic work on a heavy vehicle
Heavy vehicle work

What this service covers

Heavy vehicle work is the truck itself. It is not a general service menu with a truck bolted on the end. The bay at Tinana takes the repair, the diagnosis, and the work of getting the truck back on the road. A breakdown is the same work done where the truck has stopped, when it cannot come in. Electrical and mechanical faults are traced before parts are thrown at them. The equipment is looked after as if it were ours, which is a standard you can hold the job to.

The list under this paragraph is the work, stated once. Workshop repairs for heavy trucks. Breakdown service when the truck cannot come in. Electrical and mechanical fault finding. Hyundai truck servicing and repair, because Amet Diesel is the local agent. Inspections, because the workshop is an approved inspection station. If your job is one of those, it belongs on this page. If the truck is simply due and it is part of a roster, it belongs on the commercial fleets page.

What this page does not do is invent a story about a particular truck. We will not name a customer, a plate, or a job we have not been asked to describe. The work is the categories above. When you book, say which of them you need. A planned repair can go through the quote page. A truck that is stopped now is (07) 4123 5246. The address, if you are bringing it in, is 2/24 Iindah Road West, Tinana QLD 4650.

A truck that needs more than one of those things in the same visit should say so. A Hyundai that is in for a repair and is also due an inspection is one booking, not two workshops. A fault that is both electrical and mechanical is one diagnosis, not a referral. That is the reason the work is listed together. It is done in one bay, by one workshop, and it is finished before the truck is sent back to work.
