Fault finding, full vehicle fit-outs, and air-conditioning service through to overhaul.

Electrical
Find the fault before the parts
Electrical problems are traced. A component is not fitted in the hope the symptom disappears. That covers a charging fault, a lighting fault, and a control fault that only shows once the vehicle is under load. The test is whether the fault was found. A new part that happens to sit next to an untouched fault is not a repair, and it is not what this page is for.
This is workshop work at 2/24 Iindah Road West, Tinana. Trucks and 4x4s that can be driven come to the bay. The electrical work is not separated from the rest of the vehicle so thoroughly that a charging fault and a mechanical complaint have to be booked as two workshops. Amet Diesel is one workshop. If the fault is electrical, it is traced here. If the same visit also needs the mechanical side looked at, that is said at the start.
A fit-out is a different job from finding one fault, and it is the next section. A fit-out wires the vehicle for the way it will be used. Fault finding answers a vehicle that already has a problem. Do not book a fit-out when you have a fault, and do not book a fault visit when what you want is the vehicle set up. The quote page will take either, if you name which one.
Air conditioning sits with this trade. A system that is not cold enough is tested before anyone recommends a re-gas. The questions further down say why: a leak, restricted airflow, or a compressor or electrical fault will not be fixed by gas alone. If the electrical symptom is today’s problem and the vehicle is stopped, ring (07) 4123 5246. If it can wait, write the fault in plain words. You do not need to name the failed part.
Fit-outs
A full vehicle setup
A complete setup or fit-out is a different job from chasing one fault. The vehicle is wired for the way it will be used, instead of patched around a single complaint. A truck that needs a proper setup, or a 4×4 that is being prepared for work it was not doing last month, is this job. A vehicle with an existing electrical fault is the previous section. The two are both done at Tinana. They are not the same booking.
The fit-out is judged against the vehicle and the work. We do not start from a generic kit and hope the vehicle agrees. OEM components, or the equivalent, are the standard where parts are being fitted, which is the same standard used on the Toyota 4×4 work. Say what the vehicle has to do. A setup that ignores that will be neat and wrong.
Air conditioning can be part of a setup, and it can be its own job. A general service is a system that is due for a clean and a check. An overhaul is a system that has failed. If the fit-out includes air conditioning, say whether you are adding it, servicing what is there, or replacing a system that no longer works. Those are three different amounts of work, and the quote is better when they are not collapsed into “air con too.”
Book a fit-out as planned work. The quote page asks for the vehicle and what it needs. “Full setup” is not enough on its own. Add what the vehicle will be used for. The workshop is at 2/24 Iindah Road West, Tinana QLD 4650, and the phone is (07) 4123 5246 if you would rather describe the vehicle than write it down. Bring it in once the work is agreed. A fit-out done from a photograph is how the wrong thing gets wired.
Air conditioning
Service the system, or overhaul it
A general air-conditioning service is for a system that is due for a clean and a check. A complete overhaul is for a system that has failed. Those are not the same booking, and they are not the same bill. A service sanitises the system and confirms it is running clean, which matters if you spend long hours in the truck or the 4×4. An overhaul is the repair of a system that is no longer doing that job.
A system that is not cold enough is not automatically an overhaul, and it is not automatically a re-gas. Poor cooling can be a refrigerant leak, restricted airflow, or a fault in the compressor or the electrical side. We test the system and name the cause before recommending a repair. A re-gas that leaves a leak in place does not fix it, and it is not the repair you should pay for. That answer is also in the questions below, because it is the question people actually ask.
The electrical side of an air-conditioning fault is why this work sits with auto electrical rather than on its own island. A compressor that is not being commanded, or a fault that only shows under load, is an electrical trace as much as it is a gas problem. Both are done in the Tinana workshop. You do not book the gas somewhere else and the wiring here.
If the cab is still comfortable and the system is simply due, book a service. If it is not cold enough, say that, and we will test it. The quote page will take the vehicle and the symptom. If you are on the road and the fault has stopped the day, ring (07) 4123 5246. The address, when you are bringing it in, is 2/24 Iindah Road West, Tinana QLD 4650.

Air-conditioning questions
Does my A/C system need servicing?
Yes. If you spend a lot of time in the vehicle or the truck, the filter and the system should be sanitised and running clean.
Why is my A/C not cold enough?
Poor cooling can be caused by a refrigerant leak, restricted airflow, or a fault with the compressor or the electrical system. We test the air conditioning to find the cause before recommending a repair, so you are not paying for a re-gas that will not fix the problem.
Electrical or air conditioning playing up?
Tell us the vehicle and what it is doing.
